I'm watching the progress of the Skua from Minnesota USA

Post by rosieriveter on Tue 15 Apr 2008 - 3:28

I just returned from Norway. I was there visiting my cousins, who live just below the location of the crash of Gallagher's plane. They had told me about the wreckage, but I couldn't see it this time, due to the snow cover. Then I found out about the Skua being raised from the fjord. We returned just one week before it was raised.... bad luck! I am a great warbird fan and am working on the restoration of a BT-15, which is a Vultee "Vibrator" -- a basic trainer used train many American pilots during WWII. (I'm the only woman among our crew of restorers). I have been checking websites for Skua updates and just found this one tonight. Any updates as the salvage continues (for the pieces that fell off during the raising of the plane) or about the restoration, once it begins, would be really exciting to see. Thanks for posting your pictures and the info so far!
