According to loss-lists,this plane is reported to have been lost "near Narvik" on the 22nd of july 1940. No names of crewmembers are given.

During a visit at a ju88 crashsite in the mountains east of the airfield Bardufoss northeast of Narvik this summer, parts with the Wnr. 088 0161 (the A-1-series) as well as parts with remains of the Staffemblem of the 2nd Staffel KG30 were found. This plane crashed in july 1940, according to locals with the loss of all onboard.

Fikk for en stund siden fatt i en Tysk hjelm,hjelmen stammer fra et d�dsbo i Trondheim,hjelmen er en tysk marinehjelm og kommer fra et hus som ligger like ved Berg Skole i Trondheim og var under krigen okupert av tyskere.Noen som vet hvem som holdt til i dette omr�det,det er jo en marine hjelm s� det er vel grunn til � tro det var Marine,men hvilken gren av marinen? Hjelmen har p�malt navnet til eieren p� innsiden

Did we surrender in June 1940, when the 6th division laid down their arms?.

Some years ago I asked my mother. My father died 1980 and I got no chance to discuss this with him.

Did Norway surrender? Did the 6th division surrender?

She was somewhat flabbergasted.

Do you think we were idiots?

-During May til June, our only source of somewhat reliable information was the broadcasts from Troms�. Not all managed to listen to every speach, but it didn�t take many hours ...

I clearly see the pros with forums for only registered users. However my experience from many forums, both work-realated and leisure-/hobby-related is that whenver this is implemented, there is a drastic reduction of contributions. Sadly this has also happened to this forum. Maybe one help would be to start again the discussion; did we surrender or not in june 1940?

Er det gjort noen unders�kelser vedr�rende forholdene mellom nordmenn og finlendere etter at 2. v-krig var over?

Nordmenns forhold til tyskerne var jo ikke hjertelig akkurat, og med finnenes engasjement p� tyskernes side skulle man forvente samme holdning til dem. Men var det slik?

P� foresp�rsel fra en tysk kamerat, sp�r jeg herved om noen vet hvor HKAR 25/973 l� stasjonert. Etter all sannsynlighet var det i Lofoten-omr�det et sted. Denne enheten, sammen med flere fra samme regiment ble visstnok "omd�pt" til HKAR 483 i 1944.

Hei! Jeg har endel foto album fra Tyske soldater i Norge. I et av albumene s� er det noen foto fra en begravelse av ca. 25 Tyske soldater i Bod�. Endel mener dette er foto av begravelsen fra omkomende fra hurtigruta "Prinsesse Ragnhild" som ble senket oktober 1940. Er det noen som kan hjelpe meg � bekrefte eller avkrefte dette? All info som kan bidra til en mulig avklaring er jeg meget takknemlig for.

Crown Prince expected 2% to get executed..

Rather quiet in this section...

I enclose a scan from New York Times 14.5.45.

It clearly states that Crown Prince (later king) Olav honestly expected 2% of his population would get death penalty. In 1945, that would have been close to 90 000...

That sounds quite amazing; since he knew he would be the king of Norway one day. This makes him sound more like a ancient war king of the medeval period.

Minelegger KNM TYR ble tatt i Uskedalen i april 1940, og f�rt til Bergen. Var med p� kamper i ytre Sognefjord 30. april under tysk tjeneste.

Returnerte til Bergen dagen etter.

Ved kapitulasjonen var i mai 1945 var "TYR" i Hafensch�tzflottille Bergen som NB02 "TYR". I 1943 var dette nummeret p� "BIBER", s� den m� ha f�tt navnet i l�pet av 1943 eller senere.

The theft from Batterie Dietel late December 2007

As reported earlier, a K�ttenkrad and some other items was stolen from the museum �Batterie Dietel� in Northern Norway late December 2007.

Shortly after, when the news got around, the K�ttenkrad was located in Germany due to the activity among many collectors reading different forums on the web.

This information was given to both the Norwegian and German police. But also the thieves �heard about the search� so they managed to hide the K�ttenkrad.

It must have been in October 1943 when german troops tried to find hostile agents that operated in Northern Norway and cabled the destinations of german convois. German submarine chasers tried to sink a soviet submarine that landed these spions. Are there some sources that could give more information? Was the submarine sank on Oct. 21st? I'm trying to help an elder lady to find out something about her grandfathers military career. He has never talked about his wartime during his lifetime. She has no fieldpost, no pictures, nothing. She made a request to the german Wast but the only information she got was the dogtag ID and a single unit record.

This unit was the Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 20/XI which was based in Kirkenes in 11/1942 under the command of Luftwaffen-Bau-Regiment 4/XII.

Interestingly, few of the men have records at the national Archives. The names are associated with Section D - the organisation prior to SOE and Operation Barbara - Munthe and Rognes' project. Where known I have given date and place of birth.

Two Stuka crashes Narvik 2.6-40

On this day, pilot Ltn.Klaus K�bel of Stuka (A5+DK) and Obltn.Heinz B�hne of Stuka WNr.5428 (A5+DM) were shot down and killed.

The gunners of the two planes were killed too. I have been searching for their names for a while now.

Both K�bel and B�hne are buried at Narvik Cemetery. When I studied the grave list I found two other names killed on the same date: Uffz.Rudolf Tribulowski and Uffz. Horst Schamp.

Can anyone confirm if they belonged to the Stukas mentioned above?

I am loking for the german propaganda for a impression of the style of writing.

The reason is that I know, there has been a propaganda-calculation that only some russian soldier can be alive to fight. Maybee it was aroud 1943. I think to search for this article is to ask too much.

Maybee someone is the owner of propagandamaterial, or can tell me were I can get some information.

Problems with slow loading of site?

I know there are a couple of books on the subject in Norwegian but I can't find much info in English.

- on the 17th May 1943 there was a large celebration in Oslo, but unfortunately, NS decided to celebrate their 10th anniversery the same day. This made people reluctant to participate.

- the 17th May celebration 1945 was the best memory for most, and the worst for some.

Etter � sett Terje S sitt innlegg med kopi av en ung gutts opplevelser etter krigen, tenkte jeg at jeg skulle skrive kort om hvordan jeg er blitt fortalt krigen var.

Jeg er f�dt etter krigen, slik at det jeg har h�rt om krigen kom fra de voksne. Jeg er f�dt og oppvokst rett ved en st�rre milit�rleir, hvor det var ganske stor aktivitet under krigen. Farmor sa imidlertid at det aldri var noe tull med tyskerne, bare en gang hadde et par berusede tyske soldater kommet inn i huset. Men det var ...

I am trying to confirm the identity of a Norwegian rear admiral shown in a photo sent to me. The original handwritten caption is somewhat garbled, but it looks strongly like Danielsen. The officer is clearly wearing the uniform of a Norwegian rear admiral, and was taken in 1942 when Danielsen was the deputy commander in chief of the Royal Norwegian Navy.
