Post  trond on Wed 10 Jun 2009 - 15:22

On Desember 8th 1943 to allied Beaufighter planes made an attac near Florö (west coast of Norway). One plane was shot down and crashed into the sea. Can anyone help with any information about this incident?

Beaufighter loss

Post  FrankM on Mon 15 Jun 2009 - 23:45

Hi,
the two Beaus were from 404 Squadron and carried out an armed reconnaissance. They attacked a small convoy and were intercepted by 2 FW 190 from 10./JG 5, which shot down the aircraft flown by Canadian F/O Turner.

More details are in my book "Die Jäger der Graf Zeppelin"
See

for more details or write to me!

Some more details:

Beufighter TFX D/LZ403, F/O D.N. Turner (P) and P/O HW. Duckitt (N). Norge recco. Time up 1159. Did not return.

This is the only 404 aircraft which took to the air at 1159. 4 aircraft departed at 0930, and all returned between 1410 and 1439.

(from 404 ORB).
