Captain Allan Mann was just 18 years old when he joined the Swedish Voluntary Corps in Finland. On 11 or 12 April 1940 he joined Norwegian forces at Kongsvinger. He served in Company Gamst and fought at Skarnes 15 April 1940. He then fought the retreat to Roros and in Company Wraal at Os 2nd May 1940. He then travelled to Narvik and joined II.Bat IR 15. In early June, probably 5th, he was wounded at Hundalen railway station (now Katterat). He saved a French officer and was awarded the Légion d´Honneur and Croix de Guèrre with palm leaf.

He than served as a courier for SOE and made 52 trips in nazi-ockupied Norway before 1944 joining Company Linge in Scotland.

After WW 2 he was an instructor with Krigsskolen in Oslo and was promoted Captain. In 1952 he moved to Sweden and took up work with the Swedish Krigsskolan.

What is known more about Allan Mann and his service in the Norwegian Army?

I got a photo of Allan Mann from Bob Pearson. Allan as a Norwegian Captain with LtCol Knut Haukelid, who was promoted LtCol 1959. This means that the picture is younger than 1959.

But Allan Man was 1952-1984 Captain and Instructor with the Royal Swedish Military Academy in Stockholm!
