Very fine to see the memorial finished. I rose quite a debate when it was built. Environment authorities were not "amused" and said that he had stolen the stones.

Norwegian memorial in Suffolk

Post  Bob Pearson on Sun 25 Jul 2010 - 12:14

Yes, I had heard through the armed forces that the project was controversial, although not hugely so according to them. The details were a little sketchy so it was hard to draw conclusions. However, it is good that British forces are at last being recognised in the UK for their role in Norway, not forgetting the SOE memorial on the Embankment, London, of course.

The memorial is about 15 miles from where I live and is situated at an Army barracks (ex RAF & USAAf base). Hopefully, I can secure permission to go and see it at some point.
