Arne Simenson Daehli - Norwegian Resistance

Post  Ian Sayer on Sat 18 Aug 2012 - 19:59

I am currently researching the biography of Arne Daehli who was born 17th March 1897 and lived in Asker, Norway. From 1929 he was the Chief Inspector of Whale Fishery for the Norwegian government. He was a Captain in the Norwegian Navy and had been previously employed on mine sweeping duties.
He was arrested in March 1941 for espionage and was sentenced to death on the 1st July 142. The sentence was confirmed by Hitler. Daehli was confined in various concentration camps but survived the war. Can anyone provide any more info or perhaps his date of death please.
Many thanks.

Obviously he was considered a very important person as he was transported together with 138 prominent persons from Dachau to Niederdorf in april 1945. They were going to be used by Kaltenbrunner as some sort of hostage in negotiations?? (my German is unfortunately not up to date)

Another idea:

Write to: Hjemmefrontmuseet, Akershus, Oslo.

That is the Museum of the Resistance Movement, and they have a probably large archive. But I don't know if they have the possibility to do a manual search for you

There is also a National Archives, or Riksarkivet in Oslo. But they are very restrictive concerning secrecy, you probably have to show that you are a serious researcher.

Arne was my grandfather. He died in 1973, before I was born. I do not have very much written information about his wartime years (only some newspaper clippings and a lecture he held in 1946). I would very much appreciate help with finding additional information.

Hello!
Arne Dæhli died 4.10-1973, as his Grandson said. Buried in a family grave in Mandal.
