German A/C sent to distant locale in parts

Post  Opaque Hornet on Thu 5 Jan 2017 - 22:16

I have posted in the past re the feasibility of sending A/C in parts to Iceland & assembling them there quickly, most said it was not feasible, but here is an exact example of this to Spain, it was done in 1 day !

On 9 August we started the job of rebuilding our six He 51s, On 10 August, the first He 51 was fully assembled and ready for operations.

The aircraft stood in the open, replacement parts, ammunition and fuel and oil laying protected from the sun under tarpaulins at the edge of the forest

Imagine that, no hangars? & all the supposed "Experts" at Axis History said it couldn't be done.

Looks like about 3-4 paved runways here, wide enough for Stuka or ME 110.

right next to Austurbćjarskóli (which is the large building at the top of the picture).
